The Los Angeles Dodgers took the rubber match against the Baltimore Orioles thanks to a four-run inning and their bullpen shutting down the game for a 6-3 win.

Chris Taylor started the scoring with an RBI single that drove in Kiké Hernández, who reached on a double in the second inning. That gave Hernández at least one extra-base hit in five consecutive starts against a left-handed pitcher.

The Dodgers took a commanding lead in the fourth inning with their four-run frame. It was started by a single from Taylor and a double from Gavin Lux to put two runners in scoring position.

Austin Barnes then hit a chopper over the third base bag, allowing both runs to score for an RBI-double. Barnes ended up scoring on a single from Mookie Betts, making it a 4-0 ballgame.

After a walk from Teoscar Hernández, Miguel Rojas ended up driving home another rub with a single to right field, driving in Betts. However, Hernández was thrown out at the plate trying to score.

The Dodgers took a 5-3 lead into the eighth inning before they added on another run. Barnes singled for his second hit of the night, and he ended up stealing second base as well.

It was Barnes’ first game back in the lineup since suffering a fractured toe, making it all the more impressive he swiped a bag. Barnes came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Tommy Edman.

Dodgers pitching strong against Orioles

Bobby Miller had a solid but unspectacular night against the Orioles, regressing from his last outing against the Tampa Bay Rays. Miller went five innings, giving up three runs while walking three and striking out three.

He also gave up a three-run homer to Colton Cowser in the fifth inning, which was set up by a walk and hit-by-pitch.

Daniel Hudson was given the seventh, but ended up loading the bases. With two outs, Blake Treinen replaced Hudson and struck out Gunnar Henderson to leave the bases loaded, proving to be a key moment in the game.

Treninen went back out for the eighth inning and worked a perfect frame, and he was joined by Evan Phillips, who recorded the save, and Anthony Banda, who pitched the sixth, with scoreless outings.
