Dodgers Games On SportsNet LA Now Available To Cox Customers

3 Min Read

As the Los Angeles Dodgers close in on a 14th consecutive postseason appearance, previous Cox Communications subscribers can now watch games on Spectrum SportsNet LA.

That became official Thursday morning following the closing of a reported $34.5-billion transaction between Charter Communications and Cox Communications. California regulators approved Charter’s purchase of Cox on Aug. 13.

The deal expanded Charter’s footprint in Bakersfield, Irvine Los Angeles, Newport Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Riverside, Santa Barbara and San Diego. It also represents a second expansion of sorts for the Dodgers’ exclusive network this season, as SportsNet LA was made available to FUBO live TV subscribers in time for Opening Day.

How to find SportsNet LA on Cox

Beginning immediately, subscribers to Contour TV Preferred or Contour TV Ultimate packages in former Cox markets located in the Las Vegas, Orange County, Palos Verdes and Santa Barbara areas have access to SportsNet LA as part of their current service.

On Contour TV lineups, SportsNet LA can be found on channel 50 in Las Vegas, channel 63 in Orange County, channel 54 in Palos Verdes, and channel 36 in Santa Barbara.

Before the new agreement, Cox customers last had the option to watch the Dodgers — outside of a national broadcast — when they lost to the Colorado Rockies on Sept. 29, 2013.

Dodgers exclusive network

SportsNet LA is in their 13th season as the exclusive home of the Dodgers.

The SportsNet LA broadcast team at the time of launching in 2014 featured Vin Scully, Charley Steiner, John Hartung, Alanna Rizzo, Orel Hershiser, Nomar Garciaparra and Jerry Hairston Jr.

Jorge Jarrín and Manny Mota handled the initial Spanish-language broadcasts, but in 2015 that primarily changed to Pepe Yñiguez and Fernando Valenzuela. It’s now José Mota and Luis Cruz.

The SportsNet LA crew remained intact until Scully retired after the 2016 season. Then in January 2021, Rizzo stepped from the network order to move to the East Coast for family reasons.

Hartung, Hershiser, Garciaparra and Hairston remain from the original group of SportsNet LA broadcasters. They are accompanied by Joe Davis, Kirsten Watson, Stephen Nelson, Eric Karros, Adrián González, James Loney, Jessica Mendoza and Dontrelle Willis.

Among other honors, SportsNet LA has won multiple Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards for various aspects of their in-depth coverage of the Dodgers.
