The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Michael Flynn to the Tampa Bay Rays for Amed Rosario, and Ryan Yarbrough was designated for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster.

Acquiring Rosario was the Dodgers’ second move on the eve of deadlined day, as they preceded it by acquiring Tommy Edman and Michael Kopech as part of a three-team trade with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox.

Rosario is back for a second stint with the Dodgers by joining the team at the deadline once again. The versatile infielder hit .307/.331/.417 with 17 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 26 RBI over 76 games with the Rays this season.

After joining the Dodgers last season, Rosario batted .256/.301/.408 with six doubles, three home runs and 18 RBI while adjusting to playing second base.

Flynn went 2-1 with a 4.95 ERA in 28 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Over five Minor League seasons with the Dodgers organization, he was a combined 6-9 with a 6.20 ERA in 97 games (10 starts). Flynn signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers on Dec. 13, 2023.

Ryan Yarbrough removed from Dodgers roster

Yarbrough joins James Paxton, Ricky Vanasco and Yohan Ramírez as Dodgers who have been designated for assignment over the past week.

It started with Paxton in order to make room for River Ryan’s MLB debut, Vanasco was removed from the roster when the Dodgers signed Nick Ahmed, and Ramírez started down the DFA path once Clayton Kershaw returned from the 60-day injured list.

The Dodgers went on to trade Paxton to the Red Sox, who followed that by claiming Ramírez off waivers. Vanasco was traded to the Tigers for cash considerations.

Like Rosario, Yarbrough joined the Dodgers at the 2023 trade deadline. He excelled in a swingman role but struggled to carry that success over into this season.

Yarbrough went 4-2 with one save, a 3.74 ERA, 5.15 FIP and 1.14 WHIP in 32 games this year.
