The Los Angeles Dodgers are mired in a six-game losing streak after getting swept by the Chicago Cubs in what represented Kyle Tucker’s first time back at Wrigley Field since leaving the team in free agency.
The Cubs completed a blockbuster trade to acquire Tucker before the 2025 season despite indications at the time being he was unlikely to re-sign with team. Whether because of spurning the Cubs or an uneven performance last year, Tucker was met with boos for each of his at-bats during the three games.
After the Cubs finished off their series sweep, The Wieners Circle shared a photo of an update to the marquee that hangs outside the famed hotdog stand located at 2622 N. Clark Street.

“Swept those Mothertuckers back to LA LA Land,” the marquee read. Wieners Circle allows customers to rent the marquee for a custom message to be displayed. It’s not clear if an overzealous Cubs fans did the honors Wednesday, or if the play on words at Tucker’s expense was simply done by the restaurant.
Tucker went 5-for-11 with one home run and one RBI in the three games at Wrigley Field.
Kyle Tucker responds to boos by Cubs fans
With the Dodgers playing road games this season against the Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros and Cubs, Tucker has been subjected to vitriol from opposing fanbases on multiple occasions. The instance in Houston was most odd, considering it was the Astros who traded Tucker, whereas the Blue Jays and Cubs were bypassed in free agency.
But regardless of the circumstances, the 29-year-old has downplayed the treatment. That was no different with Cubs fans.
“I mean, I liked playing here last year,” Tucker said of his return to the purported Friendly Confines. “There’s some really great guys over there. They have a good team. So it’s nice being back and playing here. I liked it.”
When asked if he understood why fans were booing, Tucker answered: “I don’t know. I tried my hardest last year. I mean, I tried playing through a hand fracture and calf thing, just trying to get back to the playoffs for them. Tried to do what I could to help out the team last year with them.
“I hit really well in the first half, and the second half didn’t go as great. Kind of didn’t end up great at the end of the year, but had a good run. They got a lot of similar guys over there and a few new faces, especially after today. They’re a good team and it should be good for them for the rest of the year.”
