The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t get a traditional celebration after winning the World Series last year, and their wait in 2021 extended through the first week of the regular season.

The Dodgers started the campaign with a seven-game road trip before getting a chance to take the field at Dodger Stadium for their home opener. That of course meant a World Series ring ceremony and the game against the Washington Nationals included the No. 10 play from the 2021 season, as ranked by the DodgerBlue.com staff.

Although at a reduced attendance because of local guidelines to combat the spread of COVID-19, Dodgers fans were back at Chavez Ravine on April 9 for the first time since the 2019 season ended in disappointment.

Players were surprised by video messages from their respective idols, and the likes of Clayton Kershaw, Justin Turner and Julio Urias received the loudest applause when announced to take the field to receive their championship ring.

Turner was in the lineup that afternoon and wound up providing a signature moment with a solo home run in the sixth inning that held as the difference in a 1-0 win over the Nationals.

“Today was a big day for me personally,” Turner said after the win. “It felt like the first real time I got to get out there on the line with all my teammates and enjoy this. Enjoy the championship and celebrate the ring. Especially to do it with fans in the stands, made it even more special.”
