2025 Dodgers MLB Draft: Cam Leiter Picked No. 65 Overall In 2nd Round

3 Min Read

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected right-handed pitcher Cam Leiter out of Florida State University with their third pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. Leiter was drafted by the Dodgers with the No. 65 overall pick, which was made in the second round.

He’s the nephew of Al and Mark Leiter, and cousin of Jack and Mark Leiter Jr. Cam Leiter has the type of stuff the Dodgers typically are attracted to, particularly if they are able to tap into his athleticism.

There are some concerns with Leiter’s ability to consistently throw strikes and his health. Leiter didn’t pitch at all in 2025.

The Dodgers have four picks on Day 1 and in total will make 21 selections throughout the duration of the 2025 Draft.

This year marked the fifth time the Dodgers have held the No. 65 pick in the draft. The selection came with a $1,349,100 slot value. The Dodgers have a bonus pool of $9,031,300 for the 2025 Draft, which is 24th among all teams.

Bonus pools are calculated by adding the slot values of every pick through the first 10 rounds. Any signing bonus amount more than $125,000 for draft picks after the 10th round also count against the pool money.

The Dodgers’ first pick at No. 40 overall was moved back 10 spots as a result of the team exceeding the second luxury tax threshold during the 2024 season.

They chose left-handed pitcher Zach Root and drafted his University of Arkansas teammate Charles Davalan with the 41st pick.
