With Julio Urias graduating from being considered a prospect, Los Angeles Dodgers Minor League first baseman/outfielder Cody Bellinger was pegged by Baseball America as the organization’s top prospect in the 2016 midseason update.

Bellinger was among the several non-roster invitees to Spring Training this year, and he performed well in his first experience in big league camp. Having proved he could more than handle pitching with High-A Rancho Cucamonga, Bellinger began the season with Double-A Tulsa.

In 110 games with the Drillers, he’s hitting .264/.362/.486 with 17 doubles, one triple, 22 home runs and 63 RBI.

One of Bellinger’s recent homers was pulled to right field and clear out of ONEOK Field. The 21-year-old has also shown versatility in the field, logging time at first base and all three outfield positions.

Bellinger had a career night for the Drillers in their 7-3 victory over the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis affiliate). He belted a pair of home runs, including a two-run shot, and finished 4-for-4 with a career-high six RBI.

Bellinger’s three-run homer in the fourth broke a scoreless tie:

Then in the seventh, Bellinger capped off his night with a two-run single in the seventh inning:

The Dodgers selected Bellinger out of Hamilton High School in Chandler, Ariz., in the fourth round of the 2013 Draft.
