When it was all said and done, the Los Angeles Dodgers cruised to a 13-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants in the second of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. The Giants outhit the Dodgers, 12-11, but never recovered from a six-run bottom of the second inning.

That came after the Giants jumped out to 4-0 lead in the top of the frame. Franklin Gutierrez made an impact in his first at-bat since coming off the disabled list, slugging a leadoff home run off Matt Moore.

Chris Taylor followed by drawing one of his four walks on the night, Yasiel Puig reached on an infield single, and Austin Barnes walked to the load the bases with nobody out.

In stepped Cody Bellinger, who nearly hit a grand slam down the right-field line. He settled for a bases-clearing triple to left field.

Wood hit an RBI single, Corey Seager doubled, and Justin Turner’s sacrifice fly capped off the Dodgers’ six-run inning.

“To take a fastball and turn it around, hit it 400 feet, then to get a slider down and away, keep his barrel in the zone and keep the front shoulder closed, the bat-to-ball skills are elite,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Bellinger’s at-bat.

“He’s shown the ability to handle left-handed pitching throughout the Minor Leagues. He stays in there and doesn’t fly open.”

The Dodgers’ scoring the rest of the way came in chunks: four runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the sixth.
