The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers met Friday night a fifth on the young season, with each of the contests coming within the past week. Los Angeles won the first two of a four-game series at Dodger Stadium.

After taking the final two games at Chavez Ravine last week, the Diamondbacks extended their winning streak over the Dodgers to three games. A back-and-forth affair changed dramatically in the bottom of the eighth inning, as Arizona pushed across nine runs.

Prior to that fateful inning, the Dodgers bullpen had allowed eight runs in 54.1 innings. Although the Diamondbacks routed the Dodgers, 13-5, the game was one that Los Angeles held an early lead in.

After Joc Pederson, who celebrated his 25th birthday on Friday, hit a leadoff single in the first inning, Corey Seager jumped on a 2-0 fastball from Diamondbacks starter Taijuan Walker for a home run to center field:

The homer was Seager’s first since April 9, and third season, which is second to Yasiel Puig (four) for the team lead. Seager added a go-ahead single in the fifth inning of the loss. He leads the Dodgers with 14 RBI this season.

The 22-year-old recently became the sixth National League player since 1920 with a minimum of 200 hits, 100 runs scored, 100 RBI, 50 doubles and 30 home runs within the first 200 career games.
