Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers and catchers held their first official workout of 2017 Spring Training on Thursday, with the day’s activities primarily consisted of the rudimentary pitchers’ fielding practice and bullpen sessions.

While some got work in after reporting on Wednesday, the bulk of pitchers and catchers in camp were on the backfields at Camelback Ranch for the first time this year. Ralston Cash, Chase De Jong, Chris Hatcher, Rich Hill and Kenley Jansen threw their first official bullpen sessions of the spring.

So too did Scott Kazmir, Kenta Maeda, Brandon Morrow, Vidal Nuño, Trevor Oaks, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Brock Stewart and Ross Stripling.

Clayton Kershaw and Brandon McCarthy were among nine pitchers who threw off a mound Wednesday. Thursday’s bullpen session marked the start of Sergio Romo’s career with the Dodgers after spending nine seasons with the rival San Francisco Giants. Romo’s one-year deal was finalized on Wednesday.

Several position players, including Joc Pederson, Corey Seager and Justin Turner have already arrived at Camelback Ranch, though Dodgers pitchers and catchers won’t be joined by a full complement until Monday, Feb. 20.

The team will then hold its first full-squad workout the following day. The Dodgers open Cactus League play as the home team against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, Feb. 25.
