After teammate Brandon McCarthy chimed in, Anderson offered a quick-witted response:

Indicative of the large scope the Dodgers’ hire has, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti shared his positive thoughts:

The reaction wasn’t limited to those with ties to the Dodgers or city of Los Angeles, as Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross sent a congratulatory message:

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim closer Huston Street was another to speak highly of the person Roberts is:

Former Dodgers catcher Mike Piazza recalled his experience as Roberts’ teammate with the San Diego Padres:

Former Dodgers outfielder Juan Pierre believes the organization made the correct decision:

Lastly, another former Dodgers outfielder, Shawn Green, is confident Roberts will lead the club for years to come:

Roberts first game as Dodgers manager is against the Padres; an organization he spent the last five seasons with — including the last two as bench coach.
