The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Rich Hill on the 10-day disabled list due to a blister on the middle finger of his left hand, and recalled Pat Venditte from Triple-A Oklahoma City. This marks a second time Hill was put on the DL because of a finger injury.

He was sidelined in April and into May because of inflammation in the middle finger that was a result of a cracked fingernail. Hill didn’t believe the injury was serious, and felt the Dodgers were simply exercising caution.

However, an infection then developed, and the veteran southpaw went four weeks between starts. Hill was removed from his second outing since returning because of a blister, and came out of his start on Saturday after just two pitches, again due to the same issue.

Hill compared the blister to the trouble that dogged him throughout the 2016 season, which he split with the Oakland Athletics and Dodgers.

Venditte is with the Dodgers for a second time this season and one day after he was optioned to Oklahoma City so that Erik Goeddel could be added to the active roster. Venditte has allowed two runs in 2.2 innings and struck out two in three relief appearances.

Also on Sunday, the Dodgers optioned Yimi Garcia to OKC. He joined the club on Saturday as the permitted 26th man for the second game of the doubleheader. Garcia allowed one run and one hit in 1.1 innings pitched.
